Rent context

Why Rent since matters when comparing Berlin rents

Similar homes on the same block can have very different rents. The date of the reported amount helps explain why.

What Rent since means

Rent since is the month and year when a contributor began paying the amount they report. If their rent changed during the tenancy, it should reflect when the current amount began.

Why it changes the comparison

A tenant who started paying their current rent years ago may pay a different amount from a recent tenant in a similar home. Without the date, it is easy to assume a surprisingly low or high figure applies to a new search today. That assumption is often wrong.

How to use it

Read Rent since together with warm rent, room count, furnishing, home type, location, and apartment size where available. A recent report from a similar home may be more relevant to a current search. Older reports still show how varied real tenant experiences can be.

What it does not tell you

The date does not predict a future listing price or replace legal guidance. It simply gives you the context needed to interpret a reported rent more honestly.

When adding a pin, enter when you began paying the current amount. That one detail makes the map more useful for everyone.
